12 November 2021
Dear Residents, Families and Friends,
It is with much relief that I can advise you, that late this afternoon we have received the “stand-down” of the COVID-19 outbreak notification at Doutta Galla Footscray from the Western Public Health Unit. This is effective from today, Friday 12 November 2021.
We will continue to monitor residents’ health and wellbeing closely. Staff will remain wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in line with Government Directives. Social distancing, hand hygiene, and normal infection control cleaning regimes will also continue.
What this means now:
- Residents may attend off-site appointments where necessary, following COVID-19 safe practices.
- New fully vaccinated residents may be admitted. There are no additional requirements on admission other than routine symptom screening.
- Internal staff may return to work where they have undertaken all testing as recommended by the DHHS and Western Public Health Unit, and the results of these tests are negative.
- Visiting health practitioners (such as general practitioners and allied health) may attend the Home as required.
We know that many families will want to visit as soon as possible, and we are taking reasonable and measured steps to safely open our Home. In the coming days the Home will be in contact with families to advise of opportunities for visitations.
As you know vaccination is a key strategy to defeating this virus and Doutta Galla encourages you and your families who are yet to be vaccinated to consider doing so. Importantly, all Footscray Home staff, and most residents have been vaccinated.
We will advise you immediately of any changes to you or your family member’s health status. If you have an enquiry or concern about your family member, please call the Footscray Home on 9687 6744. In addition, you are welcome to contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your support during this challenging time and we are looking forward to welcoming you back soon.
