Doutta Galla COVID-19

15 August 2021

Dear Independent Living Unit resident,

As you will have heard on the news, the latest COVID outbreak in Melbourne is starting to impact on the community, and most particularly in the northwest of Melbourne.

I am writing to advise you that yesterday evening I received notification that a staff member at our Queens Park Aged Care Home has been identified as a tier 1 close contact of a COVID19 positive person.  Fortunately, the staff member was tested on Friday 13 August 2021 and returned a negative test result.

There is no need to be alarmed as we do not have any staff or residents at Queen Park who have signs or symptoms of COVID-19. There is no outbreak at Queens Park nor at any Doutta Galla Home.

As you know Doutta Galla continues to maintain strong Home entry protocols, this means that we will continue to adhere to the Government visitor restriction directions which limit the movement of any non-essential visits.

Fortunately, most of our Queens Park residents have been vaccinated and many staff have also been vaccinated.  As you know vaccination is a key strategy to defeating this virus, along with following COVID safe advice provided by Government Health Departments regarding mask wearing, hand hygiene and social distancing. Doutta Galla encourages you and your families who are yet to be vaccinated to consider being vaccinated. You can click here to Book your vaccine appointment | Coronavirus Victoria.

The Government has outlined a range of COVID safe behaviours that have been put in place to continue to protect Victorians from the virus and we ask you to follow these restrictions.  To find out more please visit the Department of Health and Human Services website Please remember if you have any symptoms at all, please get tested as soon as possible.

If you or your family would like more support during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981.  They are available 6am – 10pm, 7 days a week.  The other organisation that can assist you is Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria who can be reached on 1800 171 866 for support and advice.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
