Doutta Galla COVID-19

15 November 2021

Dear Resident, Families and Friends,

Following the round of COVID-19 testing for residents and staff completed on Friday 12 November 2021, I am pleased to advise that these tests have returned a negative result and all residents remain symptom free.

On this basis we will return the Yarraville Home to COVID-19 safe practices. Residents will once again be able to move freely around the home, enjoy meals in the dining room and participate in social and planned activities.

We know that the residents don’t enjoy being in their rooms but unfortunately with the ongoing cases of COVID-19 in Victoria, there are times when we need to take action to protect our residents.  If we do need to take pre-emptive measures, we will do our utmost to keep these as brief as possible whilst safeguarding our residents.

As you know vaccination is a key strategy to defeating this virus and Doutta Galla encourages you and your families who are yet to be vaccinated to consider doing so.  Importantly, all Yarraville Village staff, and most residents have been vaccinated.

Many families will want to visit as soon as possible, and we are taking reasonable and measured steps to safely open our Home. In the coming days the Home will be in contact with families to advise of opportunities for visitations.

We will advise you immediately of any changes to you or your family member’s health status.  If you have an enquiry or concern about your family member, please call the Yarraville Village Home on 03 9687 8233.  In addition, you are welcome to contact via covid19questions@dgas.org.au

For more support and advice during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981 or Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria on 1800 171 866.  They are available 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.

I thank you for your support and cooperation during this precautionary response undertaken by the Yarraville Village Home.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
