Doutta Galla COVID-19

21 January 2022

Dear Resident, Families and Friends,

I am pleased to inform you that the Goulburn Public Health Unit has advised us that the classification of the Harmony Village Home as a Covid-19 exposure site has been lifted and the restrictions can also be removed.

This means that:

  • Residents will no longer need to isolate in their rooms and we will be encouraging them to socialise with their fellow residents and encouraged to move around in their particular zoned areas of the Home.
  • Residents may leave the Home to attend appointments where necessary, adhering to COVID-19 safe practices.
  • New, fully vaccinated residents may again be admitted.  Prior to admittance they will take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) to ensure they are negative to Covid-19.
  • It is anticipated that hairdressing appointments will resume from next week.  Please check with the administrative staff who can advise you of the start date of the hairdresser once confirmed.

We will continue to monitor residents’ health and wellbeing closely.  Staff will remain wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in line with Government directives.  Social distancing, hand hygiene and normal infection control cleaning regimes will also continue.

As we enter our third year responding to this pandemic, there continues to be extremely high COVID-19 transmission in the community.  We will continue to revise our operational practices and ensure our Home adheres to all updated COVID-19 safe practices and directives in order to minimise further exposures.   This means we may need to quickly re-activate our response to potential exposures at very short notice.  As disappointing and frustrating as this is, our priority remains to safeguard our residents and staff as best we can.

We understand that you will be keen to reconnect with your loved ones and ask for your patience.  Please follow the instructions provided by our staff.  All visitors will need to be fully vaccinated and show they have a negative RAT result before being allowed to enter the Home. A s well, visitors will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  We need to take these steps to facilitate visits safely.

I encourage you and your families to get the Covid-19 booster vaccination as soon as you are eligible.

If you have any questions, you can call the Harmony Village Home directly on 03 5831 7921 or you can email us at covid19questions@dgas.org.au

Thank you for your ongoing support, patience and understanding during this challenging time.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
