Doutta Galla COVID-19

23 August 2021

Dear Valued Independent Living Unit Resident,

As you will already be aware, ‘stay at home restrictions’ have been reintroduced in regional areas and are now in place across the whole of Victoria, including Shepparton.

In response to the evolving COVID19 situation in Shepparton, and the number of exposure sites that are continually increasing, Harmony Village Aged Care Home enacted its emergency management plan response on Friday 20 August 2021.  The response puts in place precautionary measures at the Aged Care Home to protect our vulnerable residential aged care residents and staff.

At this stage I am pleased to report that we do not have any staff or residents at Harmony Village who have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.  There is no outbreak at Harmony Village nor at any Doutta Galla Home.

The Harmony Village Home continues to maintain strong Home entry protocols, in line with Government COVID-19 safe visitor guidelines which limit the movement of any non-essential visitors.

As you know vaccination is a key strategy to defeating this virus, along with following COVID safe advice provided by Government Health Departments regarding mask wearing, hand hygiene and social distancing.  I understand that most residents of the units have already had at least one vaccine dose however I do encourage you and/or your families who are yet to be vaccinated to consider being vaccinated.  You can click here to Book your vaccine appointment | Coronavirus Victoria.

The Government has outlined a range of COVID safe behaviours that have been put in place to continue to protect Victorians from the virus and we ask you to follow these restrictions.  To find out more please visit the Department of Health and Human Services website https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.  Please remember if you have any symptoms at all, please get tested as soon as possible.

If you or your family would like more support during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981.  They are available 6am – 10pm, 7 days a week.  The other organisation that can assist you is Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria who can be reached on 1800 171 866 for support and advice.

Yours sincerely,
