Doutta Galla COVID-19

23 August 2021

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

Following my most recent correspondence on Friday 20 August 2021, I am pleased to advise that all residents and staff at Harmony Village who had a COVID-19 test at the Harmony Village Home on Friday 20 August 2021 and Saturday 21 August 2021 have returned a negative result.  We are reassured by this news.

For the ongoing protection of our residents and staff at Harmony Village, we will continue with the precautionary response in the short term as the COVID-19 situation in Shepparton evolves.  A further round of COVID-19 testing for residents and staff will be conducted on Friday 27 August 2021, and we will review the situation following the results of the second round of tests.

It is envisaged that with a second round of negative test results we will be able to return to COVID safe visitor restrictions in line with DHHS Directions, as quickly as possible.  Of course, if there is any change to your, or your loved one’s health, we will inform you immediately.

Our team at Harmony Village are providing support to our residents with increased monitoring and screening for COVID-19 symptoms.  I am pleased to report that residents are settled.  Staff are supporting them to remain connected with family via video and phone calls and are providing one on one support visits in the residents’ room.

We understand that the changing situation in Shepparton may have raised concerns for you and your loved ones, however, we do have a comprehensive and well developed COVID-19 safe plan in place.  We continue to vigilantly monitor the home entry protocols to ensure temperature checks, checking of exposure sites, signing the health attestation and QR scanning when entering the Home are followed by all staff and essential visitors.  We will continue to do all that we can to keep you and your loved one protected from this virus.

I would like to thank you for your support and cooperation during this precautionary response undertaken by Harmony Village.

If you have an enquiry or concern about your family member, please call Harmony Village on 03 5831 7921. In addition, we have an email address where you can send any questions, comments or concerns related to COVID-19. The email address is covid19questions@dgas.org.au.

If you or your family would like more support during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981.  They are available 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.  The other organisation that can assist you is Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria who can be reached on 1800 171 866 for support and advice.

We will keep in touch on a regular basis to inform you of any changes to your loved one’s status.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
