Doutta Galla COVID-19

24 June 2021

Dear Residents

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this recent COVID lockdown.  We understand how difficult it is not to see your loved ones.

Our Independent Living Unit residents can continue to connect and support each other by accessing the Harmony Village community room.

We urge you to continue to follow the COVID safe settings by:

  • Observing entry protocols and density limits when accessing the community room.
  • Signing the Doutta Galla health status attestation and registering using the QR code that is provided
  • Wearing a face mask whilst in the community room, and
  • Maintaining social distancing

Although some restrictions remain in place for aged care homes, Doutta Galla is pleased to be able to welcome back visitors to our Harmony Village aged care home from tomorrow.

  • Residents can have two visitors at a time, with no more than 5 people per day.
  • Visitors are required to follow COVID safe practices.
  • Hairdressers will be permitted to provide services at the home. They will be required to adhere to their respective COVID safe practices.
  • The home will also be able to welcome entertainers from Tuesday 29 June 2021, subject to COVID safe practices.

Again, thank you for your commitment and patience during this lockdown.  These community COVID outbreaks continue to challenge all of us.

To keep yourself, and others safe including our vulnerable residents, please do not attend our Harmony Village home if you have any symptoms of the virus no matter how mild.

We encourage you to comply and follow COVID safe practices in the community by using QR codes when entering buildings (or signing in if you do not have a phone), wearing a mask when required, maintaining social distancing, and continuing to practice hand hygiene.

All these measures assist in managing the spread of the virus in the community.  We also remind those who are eligible that vaccination is one of the steps in helping to stop the spread of the virus.

We are pleased to let you know that Doutta Galla continues to facilitate the vaccination program at our homes.  All homes now have Government agencies providing vaccinations for new residents now wishing to access the vaccine and staff.

All of my general communications continue to be available on the Doutta Galla website at https://www.dgas.org.au/coronavirus-updates/ and can be accessed at any time.

If you or your family would like more support during this time, you are welcome to reach out to the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN).  OPAN is an independent, free service to support older people and their family members during COVID-19.  You can call OPAN on 1800 700 600.  Elder Rights Advocacy (ERA) is the Victorian OPAN member who will be providing direct individual support.

Yours sincerely,
