Doutta Galla COVID-19

Dear Valued Doutta Galla Independent Living Unit Resident,

It is extremely pleasing to see that the hard work undertaken by all Victorians during our most recent lockdown has been worthwhile and we have now been advised by our Premier that we can ease some of the restrictions. From 11.59pm tonight, we will be out of the current lockdown.

Unfortunately, visitor restrictions for residential aged care homes have not changed and visitors are only permitted in certain circumstances or for ‘end of life’ reasons.  Our understanding from the Government advice to date is that these arrangements will remain in place to protect residents for at least another two weeks.

The Government has outlined a range of COVID safe behaviours that have been put in place to continue to protect Victorians from the virus and we ask you to follow these restrictions.  To find out more please visit the Department of Health and Human Services website https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.

We continue our work with Government sponsored agencies to facilitate access to the COVID vaccine for all our residents and staff.  We remind all of you who are eligible that vaccination is one of the steps in helping to stop the spread of the virus. You can click here to Book your vaccine appointment | Coronavirus Victoria.

As you are aware, communications from Doutta Galla are sent directly to the resident and to the nominated resident representative.  If there are additional people in your family who would like to receive communications directly, can you please let the Home know their details and we can add them to the email list for you.  As a reminder, all my general communications, including previous letters from me, are available on the Doutta Galla website at https://www.dgas.org.au/coronavirus-updates/ and can be accessed at any time.

If you or your family would like more support during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981.  They are available 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.  The other organisation that can assist you is Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria who can be reached on 1800 171 866 for support and advice.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
