Doutta Galla COVID-19

27 May 2021

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

As you will all be aware, the Acting Premier James Merlino today announced that Victoria will move to “circuit breaker” restrictions from 11:59pm tonight.

The introduction of the restrictions means that no visitors will be permitted into aged care or other residential facility settings, except for end-of-life reasons.  At this stage, these restrictions will remain in place until 11:59pm on 3 June 2021.

Although these restrictions may cause inconvenience to our residents, families and visitors, we will be fully staffed and do everything we can to maintain the wellbeing of all our residents during this short lock down.

This lockdown reminds us again that this pandemic is not over.  We urge you to follow the restrictions announced today by the Acting Premier and remind those who are eligible, to be vaccinated in order to help stop the spread of the virus.

You are encouraged to keep in touch with your family via phone and families can call the home where your loved one lives to make a time to book a video call, or a window visit where this is possible.

Please contact the Home if you have any questions or concerns.  In addition, you are welcome to contact us via the email address covid19questions@dgas.org.au.

As you are aware, communications from Doutta Galla are sent directly to the resident and to the nominated resident representative.  If there are additional people in your family who would like to receive communications directly, can you please let the Home know their details and we can add them to the email list for you.  As a reminder, all my general communications, including previous letters from me, are available on the Doutta Galla website at https://www.dgas.org.au/coronavirus-updates/ and can be accessed at any time.

If you or your family would like more support during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981.  They are available 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.  The other organisation that can assist you is Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria who can be reached on 1800 171 866 for support and advice.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
