Doutta Galla COVID-19

29 August 2021

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

Yesterday we undertook a further round of COVID19 testing at the Queens Park Home for residents and staff and I am pleased to advise that all tests have returned a negative result.  Consequently, tonight we will return the Home to COVID-19 safe practices and visitor restrictions in line with DHHS Directions.

I would like to thank you for your support as we continue to work together to keep our Queens Park community COVID-19 safe.  Unfortunately given the continuing COVID19 increase in community case numbers, it is possible that we may have to return to a precautionary response at short notice.  If this is necessary, we will advise you as soon as possible.

To support our residents through this challenging time, we have employed additional staff at the Home.  These staff will provide extra support to our residents and will assist you with keeping connected with your loved one.  Staff will facilitate video calls and window visits where possible.  Please contact the home to make a time to have a video call or to set up a window visit.

Also, I am pleased to let you know that since the beginning of May we have been conducting a number of vaccination clinics at all our homes providing opportunities for our residents and staff to be fully vaccinated.  Fortunately, this means that most residents and staff are fully vaccinated, with the remainder having had at least one vaccination by the 17 September 2021. As you know vaccination is one of the key strategies that will protect us all and most particularly the elderly and vulnerable in our community.  Doutta Galla encourages you and your families who are eligible to be vaccinated to consider booking an appointment.  You can click here to Book your vaccine appointment | Coronavirus Victoria.

As the Victorian Government updates Tier 1, 2 and 3 exposure sites daily it is important that everyone is aware of these exposure sites and follows the COVID safe restrictions accordingly.  Please remember if you have symptoms regardless of how mild, please get tested, take care, wear a mask when required, maintain social distancing and continue to practice hand hygiene.

If you or your family would like more support during this difficult time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981.  They are available 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.  The other organisation that can assist you is Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria who can be reached on 1800 171 866 for support and advice.

Please contact the Home on 03 9372 8895 if you have any questions or concerns.  In addition, you are welcome to contact us via the email address

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese
