Doutta Galla COVID-19

5 November 2021

Dear Valued Independent Living Unit Resident,

I am writing to advise you that yesterday evening I received notification that a staff member at our Harmony Village Aged Care Home has tested positive to COVID-19.   In response, the Home has implemented its emergency management plan and as a precautionary measure the Harmony Village Community Centre has been closed.  To keep connected with other ILU residents and loved ones, you may continue to use the BBQ area (weather permitting) wearing a face mask and maintain social distancing.

Please do not be alarmed as we do not have any other staff or residents at Harmony Village Home who have signs or symptoms of COVID-19.  Fortunately, all our Harmony Village staff and most of our residents have been vaccinated.

Our focus, is and will continue to be, taking care of our clients, our staff and our Doutta Galla community.  There are several strategies in place to minimise the risk and spread of the virus. These include following COVID safe practices guidelines as published by Government Health Departments regarding mask wearing, hand hygiene, social distancing and being fully vaccinated.

For more support and advice during this time, please reach out to OPAN (Older Persons Advisory Network) on 1800 237 981 or Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria on 1800 171 866.  They are available 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.

We will inform you of any changes to the situation and thank you for your support during this challenging time.

Yours sincerely,

Vanda Iaconese

CEO
