Elle Robles is a woman on a mission. As the newly appointed Clinical Operations Manager at Doutta Galla Aged Services, she is at the forefront of shaping a new era of care for residents. With a career trajectory that has seen her grow from an agency nurse to a pivotal leadership role, Robles is passionate about delivering exceptional care and improving the lives of residents.
Starting her journey at Doutta Galla in 2019 as an agency nurse, Robles quickly demonstrated her dedication and was offered the position of Clinical Care Coordinator. Following maternity leave, she returned to the organisation as a Clinical Care Supervisor, gaining experience in both frontline care and management. This diverse background has equipped her with a unique perspective that is proving invaluable in her new role.
“Shaping this new role is a challenge,” Robles admits. “It involves a lot of collaboration with other departments and a deep understanding of the facilities. My focus is on building strong relationships with the team, identifying challenges, and developing strategies to improve care.”
A typical day for Robles is anything but routine. Her role demands adaptability and a willingness to tackle a wide range of tasks. From attending meetings and overseeing business projects to conducting audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, her days are filled with variety.
“Ensuring residents are comfortable and well-cared for is our top priority,” she says. “Regular audits of care plans, coupled with open communication with residents and their families, are essential. We strive to create a personalised care experience for each resident, tailored to their individual needs and preferences.”
Robles acknowledges the challenges faced in delivering quality care, citing regulatory changes, resource allocation, and managing resident and family expectations as key areas of focus. However, she is optimistic about the future.
“Improved staffing levels and a strong focus on staff morale have made a significant difference,” she explains. “We are committed to creating a home-like environment for our residents, and the support from upper management has been instrumental in achieving this.”
As Robles continues to navigate the complexities of her new role, her passion for aged care shines through. Her dedication to improving the lives of residents, coupled with her strong leadership skills, make her a valuable asset to Doutta Galla.
“I believe in a family-focused approach to care,” she says. “We are committed to providing the highest quality care for our residents, and I am excited to be part of this.”
